This week I visited the Zak and Tonic Pop up Shop in the Priority Zone Rooftop Garden.
The Garden
was developed on the roof of the Priority Zone Project’s offices with the
aim of providing food to needy people and educating
the public about food security and sustainability.
Local office workers often lunch in this oasis in the city, but this week, Zak and Tonic are providing delicious food and drinks, and many of the delegates to the UIA2013 conference are benefitting from their talent.
It's inspiring to see all sorts of vegetables growing in 44 gallon drums and various other recycled products.
Zak (Izak) and Tonic (Tam) are foodie friends who met on the set of Master Chef South Africa in 2012 The two self-taught
food enthusiasts
Tomorrow, the 7th August is the last day of the Zak and Tonic pop up shop. If you are not able to get there to enjoy their food this week, the beautiful gardens at 77 Monty Naicker Street are worth a visit anytime.
